In my story about the amnesty buyouts, I noted (and this was partly inspired by chatter on Twitter) that an Ott-Grigorenko-Leino line could duplicate the makeup and chemistry of the Hartnell-Briere-Leino line in Philly but with a decreased QOC. If Lindy Ruff decides to roll three scoring lines the Grigo line could be very effective.

That’s what I’m thinking, too. Darcy has made deals for guys we didn’t think were available before, but if that doesn’t happen, the depth will be the issue. Losing even one center that can play would be killer.

I agree. The next few weeks could be the defining moment for Darcy at least on a local level. People who know the landscape and players available (or not) realize there isn’t a top C to just go out and get. There are some solid wingers that many forget arent at Center. But if Darcy can go out and get a top C or at least an bandaid for a first line center until prospects or the player pool is better he will have won over a ton of fans who know the game.

I just hope it isn’t Semin. If you are looking to stay with character guys at the center slot and add in some production at a winger position I don’t think you bring in someone who is potentially an issue. It better be a proven contrinutor like Bobby Ryan. What you give back in return… well that is Darcy’s huge task. I think he makes the smart move even if that means waiting till trade deadline. It won’t go over wll with fans but I think with some new character this team can do better things than last season. And I hope we don’t get as injured at the least..

100% true. I noticed that Monday, that there seemed to be a few new game presentation elements (even from when I was in the pressbox earlier this year) designed specifically to simply add random excessive noise. And that was sitting in the 100s, can’t imagine how much louder it was up high.

I don’t have a problem with the fan noise at FNC; we all know the fans can bring the loud when given a reason to cheer. Witness playoffs in prior years. What I have a problem with is the ridiculously loud game presentation. I sit in the 300 level and it’s being at a concert or a club. If they’re trying to create atmosphere that’s not the way to do it.

Absolutely. I remember not even wanting to try to find the games when they were off my cable. This is so much more fun, which is kind of the point.
